I searched far and wide on how to make these angels wings and found little help besides the CG cookies tutorial which was more for the spikey short downy feathers along the actual wing arm. This was a big learning experience for me as it’s the first time I’ve used alpha textures, hair, and an armature (I’m still new).
It’s for a photography project of mine coming up which is a fallen angel photoshoot of a model.
Each wing has a material applied to it and all of them have a light grey color to the diffuse section. I there anyway to only change that grey to white or darker in batch without modifying all the materials parameters? Because they all have different UV maps and texture images I only want to change the diffuse color. Is there anyway to do that?
I found some tutorial on how to do the soft downy feathers on the top of the wing by using clumped hair simulation. But other than that it was all learning the hard way and basic problem solving. The feather geometry was easy so I made 3 or 4 sizes and groups of them paeenred to the main wing arm piece like a chicken wing. Then rigged it which I had to watch a few videos on. It was a lot of work but a lot of learning. If I can learn more about rigging and hair I’d like to make a better one that’s more poseable.
