Animating a spot light

Can anyone tell me how to animate a spot light? This is part of a projector
and I want to get the light to flicker on and off as the reels turn.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you click I with the MouseCursor in the Lamp Buttons you can put an IPO on the lamp’s Energy.
