Animation does not export :(

Hello all, first post here, I’ll make this as brief as possible.

I’m rigging and animating a first person model, the player is holding a knife melee weapon. I’ve rigged and animated it correctly, it plays back as it should in Blender, as shown:

I export it as a .X file using these settings:

But when I open the exported .X file in, let’s say, fragMOTION, this is the outcome:

The knife remains stuck right there, not animating with the hand as it does in Blender, but the arm animation plays back fine.

So my question is, how do I get the knife correctly positioned and animating with the rest of the arm? Thanks!!

Try making it a Child Of (use “Child Of” constraint) a bone in the hand. You can have multiple Child Of constraints and keyframe the influence of each of them to transfer the knife from hand to hand or hand to another characters chest for example.
