Animations won't render

I don’t know why, but for some strange reason, Blender won’t render an animation on my laptop. It’s not even a very complicated one when I last tried (five minutes ago from post). Just a slip of silk falling on a glowing glass ball with a little wind. Blender will just stop working for no reason.

What version?

The latest. Can’t remember the exact number, but I downloaded the latest not more then four months ago. It was rendering fine, then. It just won’t do it now.

2.5 it is. I just checked.

You don’t even mention your operating system, etc…

But try rendering NOT in a separate window?

Oh, sorry.

Windows 7, Blender 2.5 with LuxRender addon, in the same window as the program.

Four months is a long time for a build, but animations were working correctly then. Check to ensure that your output path is correct, and that you are looking in the proper directory. Sometimes it’s the simple things. If you are saying that rendering isn’t starting at all, go ahead and grab the latest optimized build from graphicall.org for your system and try again. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, update drivers. Still no luck, post here again with a bit more detail so we have a better idea of what is going on or post the blend so we can see your settings.

Try using a different animation output codec or preferably an image sequence.

Changed the codec. It’s working now. Thanks!
