I’m planning to release BlenRig 2.0 along with a short film I’m currently working on. All I have to say is that there will be some really nice surprises when it comes out…
This is simply amazing! It seems like a magic to me when at the end of the video you have mentioned that no pyConstraints or shapekeys were used.
Excellent work. Is video available for download in higher resolution?
You maybe also interested in information Bassam has hinted that new Mancanady should have IK FK switch without any "jumping. I guess new Child of constraint might enable this. So this is just a tip that may be useful for your progress.
Ohih oh, great:) I think such a rig could be distributed with blender one day. So you can have also transferable animation between characters? like computing animation offsets between differently sized models?
If you download the Ipod version instead of watching online, you should have access to the 640x480 video.
I will surely keep an eye on Bassam’s work if he promises to have IK FK switching without jumping. Currently, in BlenRig it is possible to achieve that kind of smooth transition with some manual key framing work around.
Maybe there could be a way to achieve that kind of switching with pyconstraints (unfortunately I know nothing of python scripting), but as far as I’m concerned, the new Child of constraint does not enable you to do that, because it is not dynamic. it works with an offset value that you set in a certain pose, and if you change the armature’s pose that offset value isn’t valid anymore and some ‘‘jumping’’ occurs. Actually, I am using the Child of constraint in the current Rig.
Pildanovak, you can definitely have transferable animation between characters, that’s the advantage of using a unified rigging system.

The website homepage (http://www.jpbouza.com.ar/ENG/main.html) says “to be released in june”. At the time of writing, there’s no delay yet
Really hope it gets released soon, as i am just starting a project where blenrig2.0 would make my life A LOT easier…
Greets to jpbouza, hope to hear some news soon!
bye
As the authors says on the website (http://www.jpbouza.com.ar/ENG/main.html) blenrig2.0 should be released in june, so it’s still on schedule.
Really hope to hear some news soon, as i am starting a project where blenrig would make my life A LOT easier
Greetz to jpbouza, in the meanwhile!
hehehe, unfortunately not…the site is down because someone must be doing server maintenance or something like that…
But something is definitely happening behind the curtains, don´t worry. I´m really sorry about the delay but I´m finishing all the super hyper extra little details. I´ll give everyone of you who have posted here a call when I upload BlenRig 2.0. And when I have all the extra material edited (video tutorials) I´ll do the official announcement (a few more days).
Hehe, I´m so ashamed that the name of this post is ´´Announcement, BlenRig 2.0 in April/May´´… But I´ve been working really hard since then, it just takes a lot of time, I´ve been going to bed at 4 O´clock in the morning every day for more than a month now…and I have to go to work at 8 in the morning… I´m getting really tired, hehe, but I think it will be worth it.
No, you can use the male rig for a female. Hehe, I may do female BlenRig some day, but it wouldn’t have much difference with male BlenRig except for a few obvious bones.
I am really looking forward to this. It will help me alot with rigging since i am horroble at rigging. It looks awesome so far. I dont want to rush you but any idea when this will be available (or when you hope it will be available)?
