I tried my hand at Blender Gurus abandoned house Tutorial and would like to share my result. As a beginner I appreciate every feedback!
It looks good, I think you have done a nice job on it but some of the scale looks off to me.
The timber cladding looks too big. Most door heights are around 2.1 meters and one plank of cladding would be around 100mm to 150mm in height. It looks like there are about 6 planks next to the door but to me it would look better if there were 15 to 21 planks between the bottom and top of the door frame.
The scale of the brickwork looks a bit off as well. It looks like there are 6 courses of brickwork around the base of the house. Bricks are 65mm in height, 75mm with the mortar joint, so the height of the brickwork is 450mm if there are 6 courses. This makes the height of the bench about 450mm, but on average the height of a bench of this type would be 1 meter from the ground to the top of the back rest.
it’s a good model and I think sorting out the size of the cladding and brickwork will make it better.
Hope this helps.
Thank you very much for the detailed observation, thats very helpful! I had a feeling that the scale was off, because I measured it all by eye and with the help of an imported human model; should have payed more attention to real world sizes. It becomes hard to see when you look at a scene for such a long time, so I am thankful for your feedback
Perhaps you could add more clutter on the lawn (abandoned bicycle, broken garden chair, empty beer cans and stuff like that).
