I’ve been moving through 2049 and picking shots I want to re-create. Deakin’s and the art team on 2049 are just fantastic. This film in particular is a wonderful study for lighting design.
I couldn’t recreate the same ambient bounce as in the actual film. They somehow got the radiance to stay off the walls a lot more. I tried tweaking a bunch of settings, but couldn’t achieve what they did in the film…but I got it close.
