Any general advice on short animation?

Hello,
I’m going to animate my scene into a 5/6 second short.

Any general advice?
I’ll do one with just the camera moving, then another with some elements moving.
Should I add rigs to the plants?
Does the camera move ok?

The target audience will probably watch it on a phone…so any best filetype to render out to?
Is it worth rendering png’s then editing it together in another .blend or just go straight to an mpg or whatever?

Thankyou so much for your time

It would be helpful if you embedded textures in the file so I can better tell the flowers and plants apart from the rocks and other ground assets.

The camera moves okay in my opinion, but I would suggest a little bit of upward motion around frame 165.

Ok, an updated file.
Sorry I am out of practice on blender

Get in the habit of rendering to individual frame images then assembling as a later step. This is not too important for 5-6 seconds, but for 5-6 minutes it is absolutely vital. Develop good habits early.

Assembling images to video later will allow you to choose different video formats, or to try several different ones.

YouTube recommended upload encoding settings
(This is not an endorsement of youtube, but it’s interesting info anyway.)

Regardless of what format you upload, the various streaming services tend to reformat the video(s) anyway (recompress, re-encode).

I hope some of this helps.

Moved from Artwork > Animations (an artwork category) to Artistic Support > Animation and Rigging (a support category)

"Five or six seconds" is very short, but instinctively I’d still do it the same way.

(1) Create a “base scene” file in which you put the objects, their rigs, and their individual defined actions.

(2) Then, create linked “shot scenes,” with appropriate cameras, in which you individually film each piece of action. Use the “OpenEXR” data-file format for output into separate directories.

(3) Finally, use [Blender’s] video editor to put it all together.

(4) For delivery, create a file(s) which reads the [OpenEXR …] final master and produces the desired deliverable(s). (Until this moment, purposely, “deliverable file formats” have not been a concern. Which is why “OpenEXR” until now.)

While this may, indeed, “be overkill” for "five seconds," it buys you flexibility. Especially in "step (3)" When you find yourself agonizing over individual frame numbers, trying to get the whole thing just(!) right …

Thanks, that advice looks like gold
