Any tutorials to achieve magnetic sand animation

Hello everyone,
I’m trying to achieve a result like the image I posted—that is, to create a magnetic sand animation. I know my way around shaders, but I was wondering if you have any tutorials or recommendations to help me achieve this result.

I think you need to use geometry nodes.
However, it is uncertain whether it will be possible to achieve the desired level.

Houdini may be required.

Make a fluid sim but crank the resolution low so it voxelizes

Had a go at it and… kind of?

This is using curves and then curve to points so shaping the “magnetic field” is fairly simple but requires a lot of steps

The main issue is performance, this is as far as I dared to push it on my PC but for a realistic result you would probably need at least twice the amount of “magnetic field lines”

Fairly easy to animate though

Hii, I am so sorry for my late answer, I did not get any notifications and had less time for this project.

I indeed have seen this project from Albin but my knowledge in geo node is not enough right now to let me do this .

Thank you so much for the answer.

Hi, thanks for your reply, and sorry it took me so long to respond.

Does your solution allow me to animate the fluid so that it resembles the rather distinctive movements of magnetic sand?

Hello, as with the others, I’m sorry for not responding sooner.

Yes! The result is really impressive. I’m going to follow your advice and see if I can get the result I’m looking for. Thank you so much!
