Any way to see 3D thumbnails?

Hey Blenderheads

When Importing a 3d Model, is there any option/way of seeing a preview of the object please?

In the importer you can view the files as lists/thumbnails etc but cannot see what the actual model is.

This would make using Blender a LOT easier and for me a much faster workflow.
