append anim into scene

I want to import an animation into a scene so that it will play.
What I dont want is to : Have to import 20 different bits of mesh and reassemble them.
Ive tried various options but none have really worked.
I dont want to model the scene around the anim because I have to {this has caused glitches anyway)
Is there a way to append/import the anim so that it is complete within itself?

By Anim I’m supposing you mean an animated character. In the Library file goto the Objects lib and select all objects that are part of the character and rig (armature, IK Targets etc) with RMB. Or, in the Library file Shft-Select all parts and Ctrl-G make them a Group. Then Append that Group from the Library file.
