Apply Scale Issue Blender 3.6

New Scene with Cube … In Object Mode; I scale on Y axis … all good so far … I hit control + A and apply scale … I notice in the N Panel that scale on the Y axis is now 4M as it should be only its orange not yellow like the others although it does read as 1.0000
Though its not Yellow its orange … Here is the issue

I leave it like that I go to the cube Alt + W for Boxcutter, I attempt to make a cut with NGON as soon as I start the cut the cube grows big … like around 3 to 4 M
Note I undo it so it goes back to the previous or even go through all again … when I see the Y scale orange I select Y in the N Panel once selected I hit enter twice it turns Yellow and the scale is 1.000
Then alt + W for Boxcutter go to cut NO Problem
So I can apply the sdcale from the N Panel but not Control + A
NOTE I do not have that problem in B4.0
Any Ideas?

First off, welcome to the community, @Mark_Branscum! It sounds like what has happened is that you’ve accidentally set a keyframe on the Y-axis scale of your cube. It snaps back in size when you change frames because it is going back to the keyed scale.

I recommend that you clear all keyframes on your cube by selecting it and pressing Shift+Alt+I. It shouldn’t snap between scales after that. Also, if you don’t remember setting a keyframe on your cube, you probably want to remove its keyframes and then re-save your startup file. See the link to the manual below where it describes saving the startup file:

Manual page for clearing all keyframes from an object:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/animation/keyframes/editing.html#clear-keyframes

Manual page for re-saving your startup file:

If that doesn’t fix it for you, please let us know!

Thsank you for the reply but Im not thinking it has anything to do with keyframes, however on the off chance I followed your sugestions but im still getting the trouble.
o I tried a different experiment as you got me thinking. I started a new scene, added cube and did the following.

  1. alt + W turned on boxcutter
  2. Tried a cut … all worked perfectly
  3. New scene new cube
    4 alt + W … Boxcutter
    5 scaled cube on Y, then X … by hitting S then Y, scaled
  4. S + then X then scaled then ctrl + A
    the noxcutter …
As soon as I applied the cut in the Y axis it jumped/grew 2 m in the Y axis
NOTE if I scale without choosing an axis then attempt the cut it grows in all axis by 2 m
NOTE: It does not do this in B4.0 Beta … Honestly im just hoping someone else has experienced this … I done this 30 times at least … again thank you for the reply it is appreciated

You should ask this question in the Boxcutter thread where someone may have run into this problem or you might find answers …

Delete any keyframes that are present
