Applying a Texture

I’m brand new to Blender (and very frustrated!). I have a 3D .obj file that I downloaded. The zip file included a jpg that I am trying to apply to the model as a texture (it’s a 3D Mario from the game). I’m totally stuck. Can somebody tell me where I am going wrong from the screen shot below? My texture seems to be ‘underneath’ the unwrapped view of my model. No idea what to do. Thanks!

You need to set the texture mapping coordinates to use the UVs
Change the viewport display to textured view to see the texture in the viewport

Upload your blend file (ensure you supply the texture) to http://www.pasteall.org/blend/ and reply with the download link

Thank you. I made that change, but I still have the same result, as far as I can tell. I’ve uploaded my file. Please note that this is something that I downloaded and am trying to prep for exporting and import into OpenGL. This is not my original work, and I don’t want to imply any originality. Thanks for your help. I’ve made that change, but I still have the same result. I’ve uploaded my blend file per your instructions.

Please note (if it’s not obvious) that this model is not my original work. It’s something that I downloaded and am trying to apply the texture so that I can transfer it over to OpenGL. All credit goes to the original author.
