I want to build a block wall using an array modifier. I know how to make this by attaching an array modifier to a block object to make my rows of blocks. But I would like to make the wall from several different blocks, placed randomly. Any ideas on how I can do this? Thanks.
Join them with CTRL-J so they become one tilable object. Then array this. Array modifier isn’t random but you could use more complex modifiers to introduce randomness, perhaps through displace methods.
That’s not really going to work for me. I want to extend this concept to a barrel roof tiles and due to the huge color differences between tiles, any repetition is going to be easily noticeable.
What about using your array to make them identical, then use a global texture as displacement to offset them randomly?
