ARTIFACT II

The Japanese Tanto was a symbol of samurai craftsmanship. This short but formidable blade, with its ornate mountings and rich history, embodies the essence of both art and weaponry. It is a testament to Japan’s storied heritage of blade-making and the warrior’s commitment to mastery.

Nice sword. I really like the suede/slight fuzziness to the handle wrap. How’d you get that look?

thanks, i added a little hair particle system on top of it at the end to add some small details, the rest was in substance painter, detecting the edges and adding some texture on it

Artistically, in my opinion the blade’s pitting is slightly overdone but nonetheless is neither here nor there - overall the model still looks good.

Edit:
As an aside, blades forged by notable smiths of antiquity for instance - Magoroku Kanemoto (second generation) plus of course if the family could afford a master sword polisher’s services, would always try to ensure an heirloom’s preservation down through successive generations.

A Kanemoto Tanto (KOTO) 1527 - 1538 example.
