Assembly of your old Gems

Yay heres my first:
http://www.angelfire.com/co2/eccentricbrain/data/gallerylg.jpg
took me a week, but im still suprised at how well it turned out, (since then i have remastered it several times-see my site) Keep blending guys

sniff oh the memories :stuck_out_tongue:
i really wish i had my very first render but that was before i realized i was making everything in top view so i couldn’t really see it correctly from the camera :expressionless:

so i guess the next up would be my first ‘successful’ render. unfortunately, that’s gone too because it dated back to the days of blender ~1.7
and that’s too bad, because it was the coolest ugly thing i ever made (a semi-transparent dragon in space if you care to know :stuck_out_tongue: )

it’s too bad blendermania.com is gone… i had alot of stuff there.

so anyways, with all of my earliest masterpieces gone, i only have some of the pictures that i posted when i had my “BlenderCreations” website.

WARNING: LINKS ARE TO TRIPOD! YOU’LL NEED TO DRAG AND DROP THEM INTO THE ADDRESS BAR. HEY, I’D DO THE SAME FOR YOU!

an AT-AT i made. it was my first (and second last  ) global illumination render from back when Scott Wilkinson made millenium falcon and started the fake-GI craze.

http://blendercreations.tripod.com/nickgallery/canmech.jpg
my “Canadian mechwarrior.”
<poking-fun-at-own-country’s military>you can tell that it’s a Canadian mechwarrior because there’s only one  </poking-fun-at-own-country’s military>

http://blendercreations.tripod.com/nickgallery/Megaman.jpg
more radiosity craziness. i don’t know why i liked this one. i over did the radiosity and it ended up looking like junk. but someone seemed to think it was good because it ended up in the CJ (which made me so very proud)

http://blendercreations.tripod.com/castle.jpg
this one used to be one of my favourites

oh… and the animations.
http://blendercreations.tripod.com/Animation/ship.avi
a ‘cool’ spaceship flyby

http://blendercreations.tripod.com/Animation/sabergrab.avi
the laziest attempt at making a dark jedi. but he grabs a lightsaber using the force, so it’s cool!

well, i think that’s all of my old stuff. all i still have, anyways. man… i just remembered all my iptic stuff! now almost everything is gone! :expressionless: [!] :frowning:

I’d contribute, but lost all data in ‘The Great Crash’ :frowning:

this was your first modelling/render? wow

did you do the ants in Blender? I’m puzzling if such a thing is even possible … it must be, I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

WOW !!! you guys are AMAZING!! I have faith renewed in Blender :stuck_out_tongue:

did you do the ants in Blender? I’m puzzling if such a thing is even possible … it must be, I guess
sure, just try. It isn’t that hard.

my milestone is something I just started working on…
My first milestone was to get to know the curve feature, since it has helped me a lot for weaponmodelling for mods. However, I’ve done that for far too long, so I went over to organic modelling a bit back. This is my first good 3D head, still not finished though. It’s Darth Maul, and the spikes are experimental, so they’re not to stay. I’ve updated it anyhow so it looks more like the real “thing”…

I like it pretty much. How you do it? had a picture or something … or how’d you get the proportions?

Lost most off my old work in a nasty hd crash a few months back :frowning:

Found some stuff still uploaded on the ftp server of my ISP

http://home.planet.nl/~rutte009/turbokat.jpg

UFO animation

and

Castle animation

I took a head-tut for max from polycount (yes, a lowpoly tut) and tried to do something similar. Then when it was finished I got some pictures of Darth Maul (or rather the actor who played him) and edited the proportions untill they were correct. Then I smooth-subdivided it, edited it an extra bit and added subsurf x2. Finally I added the spikes, which I wanted to see in subsurf directly, so the shape would be accurate…

thanks

this is a good thread… this are some of my first renders, when i was using blender for around 1 month (made in a laptop, and i wasnt very used to changing between normal keybord and emulation of NUMPAD).

can someone tell me a page that allows direct image linking?? (if thats what its called)…

This is the first Image I did. I just figured out how to use shadows and transparencies…

http://www.ndnchief.com/bong.jpg

I thought that it turned out real good, and I got all pumped up and went on to create a whole scene. I used the first model of the bong in this, my second scene I ever created. Still did not know much about texturing at the time. Had no Idea what uv texturing was and i still had no idea what 80% of the buttons were for. It turned out real well, and I was very proud of it, and still am. To this day it still remains one of my best. Oh! by the way the two pictures are of my boys. I did both these about a year and a half ago. I was especially proud of the BLINDS and the CORD from the lamp. I have not done much here lately, I have been working over on the otherside with the game engine. Anyway here it is…

http://www.ndnchief.com/RoomScene_Final.jpg

The NDN…Still trying to figure out all the BUTTONS, UGH!!!

wow … this scene is impressive for me … I mean I’m more into the fictional stuff … but this has details I wouldn’t know where to start on:

  • the thing on the window (what’s the name for it?)
  • the strings on it … how they were made … but especially how they were made to wrap around another object & have physics realism
  • why does the table appear to me to be floating in such an unreal way?
  • nice touch with the tree picture behind the window
-also I’m wondering how you made the plug

PS1: this thread is indeed pretty interesting
PS2: plz don’t get upset with me expressing my curiosities …

Here’s the first thing I posted in the blender.nl “I made this!” forum - hadn’t been using Blender for very long at that stage. It’s a crappy coat of some sort.

@ce: I remember all your space scene/explosion experiments. I always used to hang out to see more since they were so cool

you can do cloth in Blender?

well at least you can model it :stuck_out_tongue:
.andy

and then … if you wanted to make an animation? is there any solution?

nope… at least if you dont you want to mess with armatures and RVK [and dont bother with the topix cloth script now, it’s not really a solution %| ]

.andy

Heh.

Well, my first render that wasn’t strictly following directions in a tutorial (I think I did about 75% of the tutorials in the “collected tutorials area” before I struck out on my own) was actually for a Weekend Challenge.

Didn’t know you could convert a curve to a mesh back then, so the edges don’t meet up right, but I’m all in all pretty happy with how it came out!
