Asset Browser reorganization

Hi guys,

I’m trying to reorganize & recategorize my asset browser system. Since I didn’t, and still don’t quite understand how it works, I got many catalogues that I want to consolidate as sub catalogues.

So I created new catalogues, dragged the old ones in and…:
double catalogues, empty catalogues etc.

How do I do this PROPERLY? This system seems utterly illogical to me.
Also - is there any other way of moving assets into a different catalogue except by openening it (and the oher 3000) and dropping it into the correct catalogue, which hopefully ihas been set up correctly and in fact exists in my main asset library?

Take a look at this…

I already watched a sizeable number of those :see_no_evil:
But I’ll try again. I just remember nothing seemed to work… I’ll go again

OK, so that’s how far I got:

“copy/move the asset files to the new location and append them in the catalogue file.”
Well, OK.

Blender documentation:

Each catalog consists of a catalog path , a UUID , and a simple name . Normally you would only deal with the catalog path; the rest is for internal Blender use and/or for emergency situations.

One line of my catalog:

eecff5c4-3af1-45ec-81dd-ea31f8ff7b7c:Vegetation/3D Shaker:Vegetation-3D Shaker

The path: Vegetation/
Cat name: 3D Shaker:
Simple name: Vegetation-3D Shaker

Blender docs: {UUID}:{path}:{simple name}
So the simple name is a combination of cat and sub-cat?

If I move over said files, one example:
53807ac9-5803-4ab0-aec2-a52418f5db0f:Nisarga/Bonsai:Nisarga-Bonsai

I would just copy the text from one asset cat file to the other and Blender would know?

Sorry for being so thick, but to me this is simply completely unclear
