So you thought It was over!
Well you thought wrong. Assumptions is back in business. Actually it never went out of business. I just took a break from the forum.
For those of you who don’t know, Assumptions is a GTA style game
Game Info:
So far there are 10 vehicles
About 4 people
Drive around four small towns.
The scenery doesn’t look cheap.
I have installed a radio hosting one station
I have installed a map icon in the bottom left hand side.
I installed an info bow on the top right hand side.
In the mean time I refuse to post any new images because of the ordeal I had last time
For some reason I was deeply criticized when I posted new screenshots, so everyone will just have to wait until the game is finished.
So far I am the only person working on the game. It’s the first game I have every created, and its ambitious.
The only problem is different computer compatibilities’
If the link above didn’t work take a look at these old screens.
You should look for (or make) some better textures. You could really benefit from more detail, and from trees that don’t have that “glow” around the edges.
I trust that everyone will be more gentle this time…?
Here we go again. Welcome back. I’ve always liked the sound/look of your game as i’m a GTA fan, so, it’ll be fun to watch it (hopefully) develop this time.
I agree with PlantPerson, you really need new textures, the first few screenshots look horrible because of them, the last one, though looks quite nice.
Post new screenshots, don’t take criticism to harshly, we’re only giving our honest opinions which, could help you create a better game.
Your inviorments need more detail. You could spare quite a few polygons in place of all of those alpha-mapped planes. Even If you computer isn’t up to date.
Oh please, don’t pretend like you were treated unfairly in any way shape or form the last time you graced these forums.
You kept making pointless posts, and the community (myself included) called you on it. It’s as simple as that. The fact that you got angry doesn’t change the facts of what you did:
When you decide to post almost identical screenshots (with no notable improvement) every hour on the hour under the guise of “updates” -> You are spamming.
Check yourself please.
so everyone will just have to wait until the game is finished.
OMG, ohhhhhh noooo, please noooo. Your progress on this is so incredibly important to everyone here.
Please don’t deprive us of what you are currently doing, YOU ARE THE CENTER OF OUR ATTENTION.
*Bangs head on wall
WE NEED TO KNOW YOUR EVERY MOVE…CAN’T… LIVE… WITHOUT KNOWING.
wow! nice screens! your trees do need a little work but they’re better than mine! (i still use cones!!!) oh, and don’t worry about social- he’s like that. He can give some good advice though…
Keep it going! If you hit a glitch, don’t quit like I do!!
Hehe, gotto be the most humorous Social post yet. Although, and with respect Assumptions, he does have a point, we’d love to see, play, and critique the final version, but too many updates only takes time away from development and antagonizes your target audience. If you’ve learnt that lesson, your project will benefit, and you’ll avoid harsh recoil.
On a more technical note, I stick with my original critique, your alpha channels are very loose still, I hope you’ll perfect them before launch, it visually ruins the scene. Also, as an addition, it seems very low vertice, don’t be afraid to add more complex geometry to your models, when done within reason you greatly enhance the users experience without significantly effecting the frame rate. Remember, the Human eye can only see major reduction in quality below 24 FPS, meaning attepting to keep a project over 30 FPS serves no purpose, over 30 FPS and the Human eye can hardly see a change compared with 80 FPS.
With all that in mind, I wish you the best of luck
The last screen-shot looks almost like N64/PS2 (which is good for just one person…ish). If you have anymore screen-shots of the above quality don’t hesitate to post them. Just don’t post a new screen-shot every hour without a significant update to justify it, and your screenies will be quite welcome.
Actually, this time I was prepared for Social’s comment
When I posted a thread saying I quit, I admit that was a little childish. But I didn’t really quit. I just stopped posting for a while, to stop conflict.
I wanted to start this thread early because I felt the need to let people know about the game.
I do have a Webster but it’s definitely not ready to look at. It seemed a lot easier to just post the game on blender artist forums. And for the most part, when I posted the game images people liked it, and that’s all I wanted. And of course when there is a Good there is a BAD.
In the past I wasn’t prepared for what I was going to read when Social posted his comments. For some reason he can’t refuse to click on the link that reads Assumptions! And yet he clicks it, and starts arguing.
Well… … I’m not mad at you Social. When I read you’re comments I sit in this chair arch my arm on the desk, and but my head on it. I’ll give you you’re moment to say what you need to say. And move on.
The Demo to Assumptions will be here soon. I’ll try harder to fix the alph images. :D!!And thanx for the support everyone!!
I remember Social saying something about the whole “feel the need to let people know about my game” remember your not a company who develops games, you do not have a fan base meaning there’s no need to “let people know about the game” unless you have some screenshots or a demo or something to show us.
There is nothing wrong with “feeling the need to let people know about your game”, but having 6 pages of “updates” spawned in a few days, with 90% of the posts being your own, and featuring screenshots that really don’t show any improvement (or notable difference for that matter) when compared with the ones previously posted…
Well let me just put it this way: If you want cheerleaders - you should join a football team.
Yea, I just have to tell the truth - Especially when I see someone lying.
Well, actually I felt that truth was already well served in my first post, but since you’re giving me “my moment” - I guess I’ll take it.
I’ll do something nice this time around, and help you with a typo:
Assumptions: I saw what happened in the first thread and it wasn’t pretty. I do have to admit that I admire your persistence in wanting to continue this game even as you’re being grilled up and fed to the community by Social.
Because of your persistence I wondered if you just got a slight push in the right direction then maybe by some chance this project could become successful, and you can redeem yourself. All it takes is tutorials, practice, and determination.
Use Social’s criticism as a reason to finish this game.
And here’s a little gift:
I assume you know how to use these.
I wanna see some major improvements in the next update.
Do a bit more research on that. I think you’ll find it interesting that the perception of jumping frames depends mostly on image resolution. The human eye can supposedly see frame jumps in crystal clear imagery upwards of 100 fps. Of course, back in the days of mode 13h (if anyone else here even knows what that is… think Wolfenstein 3D), professionals were aiming for a minimum of 12 fps because the image resolution was so awful no one would notice once it got higher. The Blender Game Engine is somewhere in between the two.
Personally, I recommend you aim for 60fps if your PC is capable of it, because even though you won’t see jumping frames at 24 fps, the overall speed of the game will be noticeably slower than it is on a computer capable of a higher frame rate. (Actually, most people won’t see jumping frames as low as 12 fps even with Blender games. When I first started with Blender, I was getting 2.5 fps on good games due to a horrible gfx card. 12 fps looked so smooth when I first saw it…)
Edit: BTW, welcome back… I hate GTA, and I reserve a special place in my trash can for anything that even smells like it. Nothing personal. Keep blending. Maybe you’ll make something other people will like.
