Hello all. I’ve been working on this for several months on and off. Part kitbash, part original modeling. I know the AT-AT part is not to scale, but that’s because our galaxy is bigger than the Starwars Galaxy. So I thought it would be fun to make a sort of rat-rod/tiny home/RV camper out of an AT AT and the Breaking Bad RV.
There are more details that need to be added, such as cctv cameras in front (to improve the operator’s field of view etc. I want some sort of hatch on top and definitly a rear turret
of some kind. There is limited space up on the top of the RV, but I want to add some cool things before I’m done. Any suggestions?
Yeah but getting carried away a bit is good too !
I think the more you replace SF elements by elements from our world the funnier it gets, or , you move away from the star wars joke and make it a new thing, like post-apocalyptic cyberpunk machinery…
Right now it’s a bit of both, and it might be interesting to sharpen things in one direction or another.
But in all cases it’s super promising !
I have added a few new details since I last posted. I wanted to have ladders of some sort on a couple of the legs for maintenance etc. Also, Sat dishes in front for communications internet, etc. I’m afraid they look like ears sort of. But that’s cool! It gives the AT-RV a more animal like appearance. I added CCTV cameras up front to aid the operator with good forward visuals. A basketball goal for recreation .
Still need to work on the front bumper and the windshield of the RV. It will be more of an armored hatch. The legs are made by me, only partially resembling traditional AT-AT legs. I re-made them to be more stocky and the feet big to help support the weight.
I roughed out an armored hatch that replaces the original windshield. I still have to add hinges, bolts and minor details. I think it fits the RV pretty well, contours etc. I reckon there will be some gas shock/piston type mechanism for supporting the open Hatch port. What do you think?
Looking good! IMO pistons would be cool, but another option that could work for me is another set of ropes or chains to pull it up. Or does that clash too much with the existing ones?
Maybe not too many chains if I did it right. I might explore that. First though I’m gonna try to make it open like a car’s hatchback. The polycount is racking up so I’ll have to be frugle with the geometry.
Here’s a small update to the AT-RV project. I added hinges to the RV windshield hatch, plus hatch opener shocks. I got the undercarriage and suspention, drive train mostly sorted. This is a really fun project. I hope you dig it.
