ATI, blender and slow selection

Hello people…
I know something similar has been mentioned before and that there are other posts on the subject, but I couldn’t find something on this specific issue. I bough an HD2600XT, tried all sorts of drivers and still I have this problem:
Selecting objects in the 3d view takes longer than usual, and in more detailed models it can take forever.
This didn’t happen with my old Geforce 6600. I shouldn’t buy an ATI, I know :stuck_out_tongue: But now that I have, and instead of selling it back right away, I’d rather look for a solution. I read the posts where people use older drivers atioglxx.dll files, but I can’t find THAT old drivers anywhere.
Is this “slow selection” problem common with ATI?
Has there been a work -around?
And, finally, does anyone has an atioglxx.dll file from 3.8 (or close) Catalyst drivers and send it to me in case it works? My e-mail is [email protected] .

Same problem my friend:o. ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, Motherboard ASUS P5N-T DELUXE, but selection - catastrophe. I’ve read this posts:
http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=111155&highlight=slow+selection
http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93908&highlight=ATI+Slowdown+Issue
And try with "atioglxx.dll " but nothing. For fast selection you can only use “outliner” or new nVidia graphic card:yes:.

P.S.
Here is the list of previous ATI Drivers:

P.S2
Or you can delete (or better temporary remove atioglx2.dll from C:\WINDOWS\System32) and then you can make fast selection, but with “twitch” rotate with MMB.

I really appreciated nvidia after this… lol

I have used Blender on several ATI cards now, and so far I’ve been able to get it to work either right away or after putting a different version of atioglxx.dll in the Blender directory. So far with this HD2600XT AGP… no luck. Too bad because my Radeon 9700 broke down and NVidia doesn’t have an affordable alternative that’s nearly as fast as this card. :frowning: (not AGP anyway)
It’s the exact same problem too, even. Everything’s really fast, just selecting any object with over 20 triangles in the 3d view takes a second or so. Complicated models and armatures take up to 10 seconds while Blender stays completely unresponsive. Selecting stuff in the outliner works instantly, so it definitely doesn’t seem to be a rendering problem.

ok but does anyone have this problem ati7000 see at first blender was freaking slow so i fixed it by downloading nividias drivers and now it works faster but tyheres a big problem you see modeling and compositing etc work fine but it seems everygame created with blender works tooo slow i mean veryslow the game engine is also slow ive tried everything to fix it but it seems now only the game is slow (and my system is powerfull ) any one also has the same problem as me
