i was thinking cigs…

sigh

oh well %|

OMG so was I…Of course with a cylinder you could make my dreams come true… :stuck_out_tongue:

You two will kill yourselves…
Anyway, that camel is looking very camel like, with good edgeloops. The front legs appear to be sloping rather oddly, and it is hard to see all the edgeloops - although I do like the way you have combined the render and wire like that. Does the front leg have the right number of vertices to connect to the leg - it looks like it doesn’t, which may lead to trouble and (shock, horror) triangles.
Apart from that, good work, and I would suggest googling for camel - you get a good load of images, and some at least should be good references.

not bad add detail such has eyes from here will be a good job

good work

Ok,

thanks for the crits.

I’m trying to set up a neutral position for posing, so I guess extended like that isn’t neutral but I’m going to leave it for now.

No, gotta finger that out.

The legs still need much work.

No, that is in fact a good neutral position for a camel’s front legs. They have a pretty good range of motion. In fact, I’d try to give his shoulder a little better muscle definition.

If I’m counting right, the difference between the leg and shoulder joint is an even number, meaning you can reduce without triangles. I’ve no picture to explain right now, sorry…

If you want this to be a camel, you’ll have to add another hump. With one hump it would be a dromedary (me being a smart-ass).

Apart from that it looks o.K. so far but the mouth section still looks too straight. The mouth more forms a curved line below the nostrils with the upper lip parted. It is not clearly to see from this point of view. Perhaps the feet could be still broader at the base. When they walk through sand dunes they spread their hooves (don’t know if this is the right term) to form a broader sole.

keep it up!

Maybe make a preview texture

Ok,

Thanks for all the crits. Here is an update.

I’ve made the foot wider, but haven’t changed the mouth on this dromedary.

so now it’s a dromadary

Ok,

I’ve started laying out UV’s.

yes dromedary. a camel has 2 bumps and this one only one…hence the more appropriate term of dromedary. Good model so far. I suppose you will be planing a desert scene.

A dromendary IS a camel you kow, it’s a sub species.

Anyway, I don’t know but it looks like you have wany to many polys in the head, half that amount would probably do. The faceloops look good, great work, keep blending!

as for the desert scene, check this thread:

Thanks for the link to the desert scene.

This is an update with some textures added.

crits still welcome.

The textures are done for now, but nothing is ever really done so if you have any crits please let me know.

I’m going to try and rig it now.

Can someone help me by rigging this camel and setting up some poses. I don’t know enough to rig it properly myself.
