Au Revoir Sketchfab

This was a project created as my farewell to Sketchfab. It is directly based on some pixel art I created before I joined Sketchfab which was in itself directly inspired by even earlier projects I worked on, of course there were other inspirations for this most notably Blade Runner.

Although this project is mostly comprised of image planes created outside of Blender most the work was done in Blender, with the final presentation being shown in real time with Sketchfab.

The presentation has a total running time of about 3.5 mins, and is seamlessly lopped. I tried to pack in as much interesting features while working with Sketchfab’s limitations.

It ended up being a sort of semi(ish) pixel art / silhouette style / 2.5 animated sequence, perhaps interesting as an animated desktop wallpaper.

The real time Sketchfab presentation is designed for 1080p / 16:9 aspect ratio screens running at 60hrz. Some of the effects used will likely look different on screens with different resolutions and refresh rates.
This presentation is not designed to be viewed on any screen with a wider aspect ratio of 16:9. I have created a YouTube video capturing how it was designed to be viewed however due to the video editing and YouTube compression the quality is nowhere near as good as it looks on Sketchfab.

The Sketchfab presentation is also not ideal for viewing on mobile devices.
