Audi A6 4.2 Quattro

Been working on this for a while. It has it’s flaws, I don’t seem to get the AA right.

C&C welcome, vote.

Jacco;

Looking pretty good to me…

The little things around the doors(where they meet other sections) dont look great, but hose are temporary, I assume…
and the inside looks all metalic and reflective which throws me off, but lookin fine otherwise

the yellow and red lights or things in the front…dont really go with the rest of the car…but the modelling is good…some minor changes and it’ll be ready to roll;)

it must be ab treat eh???free_ality posted in one of ur threads

Hi,
With all respect Jacco, but this car doesn’t look like an Audi A6 to me.
I have to say I was very pleased to see someone tried to make this great car but when I looked at this pics, I was fairly disappointed. I’m a huge carfreak (especially Audi) but I found it very hard to see which generation of A6 this is. As it has no ‘single frame’ and the back is pretty rounded, I guess it’s the version which was introduced in 1997.

It maybe looks so weird because it’s still totally subsurfed. After putting edge-loops in it, it will hopefully look better. But there are some things only edge-loops can’t fix: p.e. the front bumper is modelled wrong. I also haven’t a clue what these red and yellow things in the bumper are supposed to be. :confused:
And finally one positive reaction: your mesh looks really clean, which is a good thing! :slight_smile:

Here are my tips:
-I recommend to model this car while using a good, well detailled blueprint. Also, a lot of reference pictures will help you a lot through the modelling. (I added some as an attachment)
-Use edge-loops to make things sharp-edged.
-Study good at the form of the headlights, the frame,… These are the characteristiques which help you to recognise the model.
-Look in this forums for help and tips. Once I also started modelling an Audi RS4 (still not finished :o ) and the tips and tricks I got from the forum-members were very useful!

I hope this comment isn’t too rude. I really don’t want to offend you (and your model). I hope this comment was a bit useful. I’m not going to rate your model yet cause it’s still far from finished and at this moment I couldn’t give a lot of points I guess… :o

Good luck with it!

Ciao,
Gallardo

btw: Sorry for my poor English! (I really should put this phrase in my signature :D)

Thanks a lot Gallardo. It’s an honour to have your reply and I will try to make you comments to good use.
however, If you read the topic title you would have known it’s an audi A6 4.2 quattro:

About the clean mesh. there are quite some mistakes at the back and i’ve had my trouble’s with it as it is. also, my subsurf doesn’t always seem to work (check the trunk)

I’m using suurland blueprints. Dunno if that’s good enough :wink:

Jacco;

The hood should flow to the front. I mean it’s a curve, there’s no edge.

Hi there

I think it’s getting better! :smiley:
I painted some quick remarks. (see attachment) I hope they are useful. The position of the wheels aren’t correct neither. (ze moeten dieper in de wielkasten zitten denk ik)

Ciao,
Gallardo

Thanks that’s realy usefull. I never noticed that. I don’t have a vieww from the bottom side you know. Also, I checked, double checked those wheels with the blueprints, they are aligned correct, although they give a bigger impression without the rims. check the rimmed version to see what I mean.

Jacco;

Hi
Of course I can be wrong. :wink: I just try to see faults by using reference pictures and my knowledge of the A6 :).
Can you please post wires and renders from different views?

And finally a tip I got from other Blender’ers on this forum (while modelling my RS4): try to model the different parts separatelly. –> Detailling is much easier this way!

Ciao & have fun,
Gallardo

ps: a site with good reference pictures, you can find here
