This is my latest work, that I’ve been busy with for the last 2 weeks. I actually finished modeling it and texturing, (took me 7.34 hours to render it in BI - damn that "constant QMC takes time) ,
But before I consider it finished, I decided to post it in Focused Critique, so I can hear other ppl’s opinion about how I can Improove my car.
My main aim is to get the image as close to reality as possible. I dont want to make a fancy background or anything. (Even though I thought of it).
I’ve spotted a few my own mistakes AFTER 7 hours of rendering, but before I change it and re - render it I would like to hear your critiques and suggestions.
Cant say much… Looks pretty real at first glance… but after while staring it… there seems to be something wrong. Not sure what. One thing is the bonnet… it looks like it has little “bumbs” in it… Also the material on the sidemirrors looks odd. Not sure what Audi uses on them… it might look exactly right, but to my eye it seems bit too “glass” like…
Hey…thx for the comment Eradicor. Yeah there were bumps on the bonnet, I tried to smooth it and I think it looks better. I dont know why my mirror looks that way - its the same material as the rest of the car body.
I also put some low profile wheels, foglights ( I forgot them in the previouse render) ,rear view mirror.
Take care everyone
Thanks a lot man, but in Q7 you can not see the wipers on the front.
About the glass material…yes I know its not exactly the same material as the original one, but while I was playing with it, i liked it, so its kinda my taste.
Your model and textures look excellent to me, although I’m not very familiar with the car. However, to achieve realism, you need better lighting and possibly some material adjustments. To me, the lighting seems a little bland and just doesn’t show off the car as well as your model deserves. It needs contrast. Look at the lighting in this image off google:
It’s got strong shadows, but the fill lights are strong enough to bring out some nice highlights on the body.
Also, having even a simple background or a studio setup could improve the look of you car by giving it something to reflect.
Thanks frodo2975. You are right about the lighting…I must definitely consider that when will be working on my next project.
Originaly I wanted to make it on a stage, with a crowd in the background and some nice spotlight from the top, but that made the car look too dark. So I decided to make a lighter background.
