Audio Stops Playing In "Checkerboard" Region in Sequencer

Hi. See attached pic.

I don’t know why there’s a “checkerboard” region in the sequencer (in the middle of the pic).
Audio doesn’t play in this region.
How do I make audio play anywhere and everywhere?
Blender doing weird stuff again.

I think this is the background grid… maybe it’s mutted (accidently hit H) ?? Try select and Alt-H

I found the problem. Silly me. I was editing a grouped meta-strip without knowing it. I just had to press tab to make it normal again.
