Awesome-Blender: List of Addons, Tools, Resources on Github

Hey, I create an awesome list for Blender on Github. What is the awesome list: “An awesome list is a list of awesome things curated by the community.”

The purpose of this list is to bring together addons, tools, tutorials, and many useful resources for Blender users or those who want to use it. And other 3D software users can also benefit from many of these resources. The target audience of this list is professional or hobbyist 3D artists who want to produce works with blender, developers and researchers who want to develop with blender.

List principles:

  • Blender 2.8+ compability.
  • Focused mostly open source and free resources.

Need to help:

  • Adding new contents.
  • Categorizing contents.
  • There may be grammatical or spelling mistakes in the list because english is not my native language. Please, correct it.

Your contributions are always welcome! If you want to contribute to this list, send a pull request or contact with me.

Thank you for your awesome contribution, agm, but, in your list there is no clear distinction between which addon is which license and which addon is currently for sale (on gumroad, blendermarket) I think you should create instead 2 different lists, the first list contains only addons that are GPL3 compatible and are not on any site for sale, and the second list contains all commercial addons that are for sale. This way the users can download from the first everything that they want, and if it is not enough for their needs, they can simply go to the list of commercial addons and buy an addon that they want. I think that way it will be more clear, transparent and practical.

All blender addons are already (and must be) compatible with GPL (free or commercial) : https://www.blender.org/about/license/

What @agm could do, is add ($) at the end of addons names to inform people (readers of this list) if these addons are commercial.

Yes, adding $ sign is a good and easy solution. As for the claim that all addons are GPL, it is true only for the addons that come bundled with Blender, on GITHUB you can find addons for Blender which eighter dont have license, eighter have licenses different from GPL(BSD, MIT, Apache) AND addons that are under GPL license.

No, it’s not.

If, on Github, addons don’t have any license, then it’s a mistake or an omission.
And AFAIK, it’s not possible for addons authors to bypass the “GPL compatible” license or to choose whatever license they prefer. But as long as their addons are using a license compatible with GPL, then it’s fine.

Nice list, thanks a lot for compiling and maintaining it!

Here’s a list of Blender renderers I’ve compiled a while ago:

I forked your Github repository and I added many addons in the list.
My page is still WIP, I will continue to add more links : https://github.com/xan2622/awesome-blender/blob/master/README.md

I will of course create a Pull Request when the job is done.
Thank you @agm for this initiative.
