Backdrop not showing

Greetings.

If I use the Compositing layout to work with nodes, I am not seeing a backdrop. However, if I stay in the default layout and switch my timeline to be a node editor, I do.

What I’ve done:

  1. Switch to Compositing Layout
  2. Click “Use Nodes”
  3. Click “Backdrop”
  4. Add -> Output -> Viewer
  5. Connect Renderlayer output to viewer input
  6. Render.

and nothing but a big X… Doing the same in a node editor window in the default layout I get a backdrop. What am I not doing correctly?

Y’know, I was looking at that thread and then I posted becuase it was so small I didn’t even see it. Thanks!
