Bagel in Blender

Was a bit tired of always seeing the torus being used as a donut, so decided to do a Bagel out of it instead. All materials was done procedural in Blender as well as the modeling and post process work in the compositor.
So…now just enjoy my newly made bread :D!

Looks good enough to eat!

Great job on the bagel texture…I’ll have to analyze what you did there.

Wow!

My only criticism is the pretentious “serving board”, arguably one of the worst trends to take off in the culinary world. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m also interested in the lighting setup, how did you get that “cafe window” highlight without overpowering the scene?

An “on the pass, ready to go” version would be cool as well!

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!

Thanks :)!
Well…lighting was just two area lights and a carefully selected HDRI (or I tried a bunch and found someone that worked rather well).
One thing many don’t think so much about is that you easily get a more “punch” to your image directly by just changing contrast in the filmic setting of the color management when it comes to food and other saturated/high contrast product images and then it’s just some minor color balance in the compositor that does the rest :).

You’re on the featured row! :+1:

Wow, that looks amazing and tasty, too!! And thanks for showing the nodes that you used.

The Bagel render looks really good, nice job!

Hi everyone,

Here is the “Behind the Scenes” article for this amazing artwork!

Do check out this article, written by the artist himself. It describes the step-by-step process of creating the artwork and provides insight into realistic modelling in Blender.
