Batch import wavefront .obj β€” Blender 3.2+, new repository, all versions

Hi all,

due to the new C++ based OBJ importer, I just revised the add-on for Blender 3.2+.

Also, I decided to create a dedicated repository to keep track of all the changes over the years, which makes the download for each version easier as well:

Blender Current Version Release
Blender 2.65+ 0.1.0 Download
Blender 2.80+ 0.2.0 Download
Blender 2.92+ 0.3.0 Download
Blender 3.2+ 0.4.0 Download
Blender 3.3+ 0.5.0 Download
Blender 3.4+ 0.6.1 Download
Blender 3.5+ 0.7.0 Download

Note: Version 0.3.0 still works in Blender 3.2+ if the old importer by Campbell and Bastien is enabled in the preferences.

Repository: github.com/p2or/blender-batch-import-wavefront-obj
Original thread: How to batch import Wavefront OBJ files?

Cheers,
Christian

Just a note. The new OBj import supports normals better. However if there is a single polygon with a hole, it won’t be skipped anymore and Blender will subdivide it automatically. But also invert its normal orientation. So you will end up having to find all flipped polygons and manual flip them back, which can destroy vertex normals of the attached other polygons

Hi @RobertLe,

version 0.3.0 still works in Blender 3.2 if the old importer by Campbell and Bastien is enabled in the preferences.

Cheers,
Christian
