The Blender project used to render all of the titles and illustrations in my BCON26 talk “Mathemagics: Building Assets for Realtime Effects” is posted on GitHub for anyone to download, use, and tear apart. To navigate and render the source file as originally intended, you’ll need to download the free Production Kit and Render Kit extensions…but that’s only required for the animation and output automations. You can jump into the geometry and shader nodes just using stock Blender 5.2.

Or on YouTube:
The presentation includes both shader-based effects (demonstrating the principles needed in a realtime game engine by building effects in Eevee) and general animation setup (using Geometry Nodes for the text animations throughout the presentation).
Featured effects:
- UV scrolling and displacement for undulating textures
- Shader based line drawing
- Seamlessly looping radial animations
- Simple volumetric cloud fakery (and how to build a seamlessly looping 3D voronoi texture)
