So I’m a beginner trying to first get really good at blender. Right Now the Goal is to get a basic Understanding of Landscaping and start a project that shows my understanding of it.
Do you mean you want to be good in real life garden and (around) houses landscaping ( or design) and then visualize this with blender or “just” learn some things from the real thing to do this in blender. Or do you want to make more something like landscape environment.
For the first there are multiple suggestions about CAD software and even special purpose software to use. This might be even a “simpler” design tool when exporting the geometry to blender later (?).
For some “epic landscape” i once saw this:
Of course one also can learn a lot from painting tutorials
..and it’s some totally different thing if you want o make game level or some (isometric) panorama…
..so: You may have to elaborate this to get a more suited answer (?). ![]()
I trying to learn Landscaping in blender. Also though, I have an understanding of the scatter modifier and displace textures, but My Laptop is having trouble running it and it lags a lot or crashes blender.
I tried to help when asking for some clarification.. this is only repeating yourself..
You can do landscaping as design tool for:
- the real thing in the garden of any estate
- for a game
- for a still ( for example some isometric mini panorama)
- for a “movie”
– again around a house.. or
– in “epic” scale for a whole environemnt
Also you can do this “in small” so maybe your laptop is enough for this. Most “YouTube-Tutor” have a ver very decent machine and sometimes they forget that not everyone has such a powerhorse.
You do not need and can not properly use some 4000$ machine yet.. and even then profesionals do not model every single blade of grass.. they also use imposter images in the background ![]()
I meant I have no interest in landscaping in real life, but I needed some landscaping for an environment I was planning to do for my ModernFarmhouse blender project. So around the house but not in real life. Sorry I am kind of slow and I’m trying to find the confusion. Anyway I am going to put this Topic to the side for a while because my laptops frames drastically drop a soon as I use the scatter modifier for grass or rocks, even when I turn the viewport visibility down. I know that instancing exist but I’m unsure if I did it right because my frames still dropped. I also got someone else to send me a file of how they did it and my laptop was barely working. So I’m going to wait until I can get to my regular computer because I know its a bit better than my Laptop
make the instance bounding box or do proxy . even high end pc cant preview millions of assets at one that why real vfx team do proxy
No problem, no stress.. depending from which angle you want to look at you scene you might try to divide the area into background midground and forground and use different kind detail levels on them so you do not need too much geometry.
