Hi guys!
I would like to share with you another exterior visualization project
I was playing around with DOF and showing architectural silhouettes.
These blocks of houses have a nice line of architecture complemented by alternation of materials.
WDYT? If you have any questions I am here to answer them and help
Again… Fantastic work
Really love the lighting in these renders, and the flower field renders are lovely.
One small point of critic is the 3d characters, they always look very ‘off’ to me and takes me away from the image.
Also, the birdseye view somehow feels 3d to me, as the other renders absolutely do not.
But like your other project a great example of archviz in Blender+Octane.
Quicky on the assets…
Haven’t used Grasswald in ages, but did you convert the shaders, or are there Octane sets as well?
Yes, I fully agree - people are a pain …
this is a project from 2023 so the renders are not adjusted with AI f.e.
The client requested it (It might be I did not post all final renders I wanted to showcase everything we created - because we did a lot of lighting tests etc.) when they are not the main focus it might work:
Grasswald - As we have been working with these assets for years now we do have them adjusted for our purposes and workflow - yes we were converting - I know one guy who invested his time into converting it as it is free now - I can try to find it if you are interested
Change of DOF - I wanted to create slow animation of camera moving up a bit and changing the focus, but at the end I have these two renders client can use
I did enjoy it. Cooperation with this client was pleasurable, and I liked the architecture, so I created many more renders for my portfolio - f.e. the first render with DOF - the client liked it, and thanks to this extra work on project, they paid more to have more images for their websites and socials, so it might be a little tip to experiment with projects
Question regarding Octane, does it require different material set up from the one in Cycles? I’m contemplating, sometime in the future, purchasing Octane purely for render performance increase with multi GPU system. But would like to know, how much would I have to change my current workflow.
It’s a different render system, so yeah… your workflow has to adpet.
It’s like using Vray instead of Arnold, or Renderman instead of RedShift.
Different nodes, setups and rendering tweaks.
There’s some conversion tools, but don’t expect them to be too sufficient when using complex Cycles setups.
As RobWu mentioned with materials it is using different nodes. It is time-consuming to switch, but it depends on what is the most important value for you - is it the result / improvement / effectivity etc - do you have a portfolio of your works?
I do mostly procedural modelling, materials are secondary for me, for now. I’m just playing with an idea to work on animations when/if I have some spare time in the future. And collecting useful info along for when the time comes.
For my purposes, I think I’d be fine with what Cycles has to offer visual wise, but Octane caught my attention with nearly linear multi GPU performance scaling. Which is something Cycles is not good at. But unless I’ll be doing animation for living (which is really not my primary goal), I can always just fire up several Blender instances, each for every GPU in the system and render everything part by part. Compensating otherwise inefficient performance in a single render session. At least, that’s my theory for now.
I don’t have currently anything I would want to present myself with. I’m reworking my entire workflow from ground up.
This might help I do like this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3w_VbYxJlw - Take a look around 1 Polygon With Me - he is really into it - maybe it can help you decide - I am more into still renders and animations for architecture at the moment but for sure there are more possibilities I hope it helps
