Hello all, looks like the last big discussion on this I could find was way back in 2021. I am looking for the best retopology tool out there for Blender currently, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
And… ?? Do the tools still exist (in whatever discussion you are talking about)? Or did you find more modern ones you want to discuss ?? Or even: what are your preferences based on the discussion you are refereing to ? Otherwise you might simply get dozen of: I-use-this-one– or I-simply-use-the-shrinkwrap–modifier… posts…
I’d love to get those posts and see what people are using. I have tried only one, “Quad Remesher” and it was ok. I’m wondering what everyone uses, if there is one that everyone seems to like the best etc. These tools seem to fall out of support so even though one might still exist it might only be good for “Blender 2.8” for example. So another question would be, which one has persisted the longest? I want to put my money into sometihng that’s gonna be around etc…hence I asked the Q.
See… !? There is a difference between:
- re-topology tools
- re-mesher
The first helps you to re-topologize ( is this a word ??) and depending your own knowledge/experience and/or the features of the tool this differs for every tool. And the later do this automatically and you may tweak some settings/options to you liking… depending on your knowledge/experience. So this depends largely on the users use case…
Nothing really changes since 2021: Quadremesher are still the best solution for both, organics and hardsurface models.
Qremeshify which suddenly appears from nowhere, are kind of nice, especially take into accout its price (its free), but it cant provide results as clean as Quadremesher, especially in hardsurface cases.
Thanks, looks like I’ll be using quadmesher still then. It’s a good little program, I was just curious if there was something out there that’s better. Quadmesher was able to clean up one of my characters pretty nicely, it’s not as perfect as if you did it by hand but it worked out. I also have a 36 thread CPU and a 4090RTX so I can power through most of my noob-ness when modeling lol… Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, quadremesher is still the best option for Blender. Best in general would be Reform tool in 3dsMax. Hopefully Qremeshify keeps getting developed.
Did you collapse transforms or scale in edit mode? Maybe scaled objects that haven’t had the transform reset are affected?
This object is initialized after scaling the object.
Add…
As a result of the test,
the object scale is automatically initialized to scale 1 when running Qremeshify.
