I’ve been using Blender more and more and am finding that having only left+middle+right buttons on my mouse slow things down. I’m constantly going back and forth to the keyboard for commands. It’s a blocker to “letting my mind fly free!”
I have a Roccat Kone XTD,it’s for gaming but i have never had use for the extra buttons while modeling .It’s quite expensive (Cheap for gaming however) and it’s the only good product from roccat (others are mostly junk)
My keyboard on the other hands gets lots of use,it has around 14 keys that i can bind macro’s to and i can switch profiles so the same macro key has different functions in different programs (A few shotcuts like shift+ctrl+alt+C slowed town my workflow so bounding them all to one key significantly sped up my work flow)
Logitech makes some good keyboards with tons of macro keys,they are also meant for long hours of gaming so they are perfect for long modeling sessions.The g15 was my last Logitech keyboard and it has seen allot of use,i have had 0 problems with it and it was affordable.
Logitech products are usually the best value for money products.
(Corded) Logitech mice have never given me problems. I’ve been using the g500, which has 10 buttons, for a few years now and it’s been perfect, although it’s not available in left handed form. Logitech also finally has good drivers for OS X. For me, that was their only major flaw for a while, making users rely on third party software to program buttons.
The Problem with R.A.T mice is that they are uncomfortable for long sessions and tend to break easily (i had a R.A.T 7 Contagion,the spring on the right click broke and the wire cover came undone)
@Atheistpally
Agree on the G300,your pinky might get sore after a while though.
@RockCHodgin
In the end the choice is up to you.Just remember to take comfort into account,just because a mouse has allot of buttons doesn’t mean you will be able to comfortably use all of them and the grip my not be optimal for your hand.
