Best Way to Cut mesh in Half

What I am trying to do is separate a hand from my high poly figure but I want the hand and figure to remain but the hand and figure to be two separate meshes?

Sorry I forgot about the “Boolean” tool. So I created a plane and placed it over my sphere and then boolean difference but I only get one “half" of the sphere… How can I cut it so I get both halves?

just select the hand and hit P (part on keyboard ) this will give 2 objects
if you want two meshes in one object you could then hit ctrl+j

or select a edge loop round wrist and rip the verts (V on keyboard)

hope that helps
I wouldn’t recommend using a Boolean its tends to give messy results

Thanks heddheld. I think i want to use “boolean” because it is the ony way to get a “closed” mesh after splitting. But is there no way to keep both halves of a booleaned object? Every time I choose “difference” or “intersect” I am left wit either the top or bottom half of the object.

or select a edge loop round wrist and rip the verts (V on keyboard)

I did as you said but it does not “fill” the polys. I want bot the wrist and the arm to be “close” after I cut them apart.

then use the bisect tool and select options in tool panel

happy bl

use grid fill on edge loops
