Odd choice to choose him sitting with a Macintosh, as the reference.

Good work. Likes that pose.

His arms and hands are not the same size! Correct it. Also, in the first render, with him up front, he seems to only have one arm. This means he’s not too well posed. These are my objections to this otherwise nice work.

I screwed it…there is the exact picture of Billgates on his young age with MAC pc…i used that…i resaw it after reading couple of comments and i can see that apple logo on that picture. Big big screwup from me XD. but why would Billgates be taking pictures with MAC

well the size of hand and head are stylistic choice…i make them bigger always on all my characters. head is also very big. The first picture is the reason I hid his arm. as you can see his other hand is in his pocket. that was a lazy job from me. I didn’t want to make the other hand. Thank you for the feedback…i will keep your criticism in my for my next characters

Notice the dominating pose. It was research!

Then he stole the “windows” idea and the name.

Not sure what they called it on the Mac.

But on the Amiga it was called windows. Those things you could click on and move around with the mouse.

I mean this was not a geeky term. It’s what we called them!

So for those having difficulty understanding this from a historical context, 1995. When they released an entire operating system that behaved just like the Amiga and the Mac windows and called it “Windows”.

Think of it this way.

You use computers. And your relatively obscure computer uses a thing called a mouse and no other computers have it.

Then one day HP announces their new line of computers and calls them Mice, because it uses a Mouse as an input device. Even if Mac already had one.

Now everyone is taking about using a Mouse. And the idea of a Mouse becomes associated only with HP computers.

Sounds uncomfortable and weird. But that is what happened with Windows in 1995.

Kinda… it goes way back to the 80’s really.

Windows 95 was just the OS that really took off for Microsoft, prior versions did not do as well.

Either way this is a neat render!

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!

The only other strange thing is refering to him as philanthropist given many companies sued ms for unfair practices.

Bill Gates Says His Foundation Will Spend Down 99% of His Fortune and Close by 2045

“People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them.”

Microsoft founder Bill Gates will sunset his foundation in two decades. Justin Tallis-WPA Pool/Getty Images

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates is announcing plans for its closure. The foundation, which has grown into the world’s largest charitable organization, will shut its doors by 2045 after spending down $200 billion of both its endowment and the remainder of Gates’ personal fortune, the philanthropist said in a blog post published today (May 8). Gates’ net worth currently stands at $112.5 billion. The foundation’s endowment stood at $77 billion at the end of 2024.

Very well explained Richard.

Very nice irony to this image. But, of course, the truth of the matter is that Microsoft was a silent but major financial contributor to “Apple Computer.” Particularly at the period of time when the original Macintosh product was being developed and marketed, replacing the “Apple ][.” Despite their public rivalry, the two companies worked closely together. They had to.

(“I was there … and wow (!) what a trip it has been!”)

It bears repeating that “a mature market” for these products didn’t exist yet. It was maturing, but the development and deployment (and hardware!) costs were huge. You needed everyone – including your “competition.” Because all of you were going where no one had gone before, literally inventing an industry with no idea (at the time) how it would turn out.

(I am utterly amazed, and stunned, at how it did “turn out!” … So far! )

And, somewhere along the line, a few people in a startup started writing “a 3D graphics program” . . . . . . Sounds familiar. (But also: “the bankruptcy.”)

There were also some things for which people say it was adopted or stolen from Xerox… and as always: there at least two sides or names fro the same thing…

( spy vs. agent, customer service vs customer retintoin, customer vs. addicted users )

It’s almost “funny” when people who didn’t inherit “everyhing” and became sucessful almost ever are descrbited as greedy from people who seems to be aren’t. IDK if this is somekind of conviction or grudge…
…and then: all this is off-topic.

(Also odd: people who are somekind of well know are often depicted as ingenious or anything the did as futureistic foresight… oh my good a CEA of some car company rode a bike… the end of cars are at the verge… here: it would eb very odd if any businessman would not have a look at some competitor )

Back to the artwork: somehow this remind me of some totally different wearing a beard now…

There aren’t that many original ideas in this world. Yes, Xerox had models of computers that used graphics-only screens. But they weren’t doing anything commercially with them.

Apple took the ball and ran with it, turning it into a then-innovative commercial product. Microsoft quickly followed, but without owning the hardware. PC computers had a hardware “text mode,” and a then-primitive “graphics mode” which made the first implementations of WIN.EXE tricky. Macintoshes never did.
