This image was created using a Blender 2.80 addon I’ve been developing in my free time called RandoMesh.
You can grab it for free from github: https://github.com/mantissa-/RandoMesh
I’m still learning python, so it might be a little buggy, but hey, figured it was good enough to share at this point.
Make sure to have a look at the readme for more details.
I really like creating interesting images with broken or weird geometry, and have rolled some of the techniques I usually do by hand in to RandoMesh to speed up my workflow.
Everything in this image is done inside Blender, from start to finish. So the glitching is done in the compositor, for anyone who’s interested.
Looks great Mantissa! I’ve been following your video tutorials and streams. Its amazing how much of your knowledge you are willing to share. Thank you!
I tested it on different objects. it is a great companion to randomize landscape structures. of course it has a massive artistic ability but commercially it could be a nice randomizing feature. great work man… keep it up. procedurals rock
Epic image dude!!! I need to watch some more epic vids again, been while. Im busy on an image and hardly did any blender last couple months.
I first that it was like broken mirror pieces. Now looking at 100% i see its the wireframe mod. I guess a extrude in normal direction would take for ever, but i could make a cool glass kind of character. Perhaps ripping all face and than do a solidify on it. I think would need to add a litle python code so it does it automatically in all loose parts.
