Here’s a blackhawk helicopter that took me several months to make. The first render is what I thought was the finished product. Then I posted it on another filmmakers site, they basically said it looked like crap and gave me a couple pointers. It ended up looking like this.
Awesome. Definitely an improvement over the first one.
I am having a hard time figuring out whether or not it is too hard/specular or not. Any ideas?
spec is just right, altho the tip of the uh-60 looks a bit too pointy.
awsome detail.
Ok, Yeah that’s what my friend has been telling me…I’ll have to see if I can fix it without having to re-adjust a bunch of other stuff.
Beautiful, some wire shot appreciated
amazing! I could have never done this…
Well, yeah you could…I was just working on it since October…so there…that’s why it “looks good”. Don’t get discouraged, you WILL get that good if you try. And it’s going to be in a movie, so I had motivation.
Oh, here’s the wire render…=D
oh and BTW I did flatten the nose a little, made it better! Thank you!

My only critique, a detail I didn’t noticed: the poly count of the blades is way too low, you can spot it by the innatural curve of the blade itself, it doesn’t curve, it split the blade in two.
Interesting…you mean, when the bend down to gravity they kinda bend at the middle rather then over the whole blade?
This is what I mean, where your blade is similar to 1 instead of 2…
ya, that’s what I thought maybe you meant, good eye, because that’s the way it is! I’ll fixeth it.
glad to help you!
Great job! You have a good attitude listening to criticism and learning from it. It sure helps to push to new heights. I would love to see it animated.
It’s actually going to be in a movie that a friend and I are making…I’ve done a lot of animation with it, but nothing has got good yet…so, but we hope to get the movie on the ball soon.
theres a big difference to the first pic nice
Actually, I think both of them look pretty good (Though the second has more detail).
What kind of movie are they going to be in? Completely animated or Live Action/CG?
Live action movie. It’s still in development, we are almost to the end of the script…hopefully we will shoot it all in 2 months :(. But yeah…can’t wait to do the CG into the live action!
Some cousins and friends and I have been working an a live action/CG movie for the last 3 years. (With me responsible for most of the CG) My models are nowhere near as good as yours though…
But, good luck to ya. At least, better luck than we’ve had.
Thanks, yeah, same to you…I’m still far from being good enough to do a movie…but I’m praying!
