Blend Alpha?

Hi folks.

I have this texture wrapped around a sphere.

Is there any way to blend the alpha channel from 255 to 0, white to black?
I have the film set to transparent, so I just need the darker areas to become gradually transparent. I can’t use a glass node as I don’t want to see the back surface.
I can write code to change the channel per pixel after I’ve rendered the image, but wondered if it could be automated in Blender.

If I understood you correctly, you want to have a transparent/nontransparent object based on a noise texture. And you only want to see the side that you’re facing. If that is the case then this Solution will probably work for you. I added a Colorramp to increase the contrast of the Texture.
