Blender 2.46 + Particles = Big File ?

Does anybody have problems about the saved files’ size using 2.46 RC5 and its particle system?
I tried to create a simple hairy box and when I saved the file, it had about 10MB! A similar scene using 2.45 would have no more then 300KB.

Wow, that’s huge.

The only file that I ever had that big was a 30 sec. commercial, all in one .blend. With the same scene copied 5 times.

Pah! My uncompressed stargate file is over 80 MB! :smiley: I win!

Oh btw, I’ve been trying to make one, but I can’t get a whoosh effect, can you help me, or show me your file?

The thing is, the particles system is working just like meshes. So, the more particles you have, more vertices you have (and then, bigger the saved file).

That makes me imagine how big were BigBuckBunny’s files…

TBOL3, I just added particles to a simple UVSphere and saved the file. What do you mean by “whoosh effect”?
