The CKEY in blender 2.49 would center my 3d view on my cursor and my rotating around it. Now the CKEY just does some weird circle on my screen.
How do I do what the old CKEY used to do? And can I remap it back to C?

Check to see if your C key setting got changed. It is under top menu Help > Hotkey and Mouse Action Reference. Pick [Letters] than [C]. For me, C is set to “Center view on cursor” and it woks fine.
Try SHIFT + C
Center View on Cursor in 2.5
two replies, and neither of you understood me. I click a button and my view centers on wherever I put my cursor. In 2.49 the “C” key did it, in 2.5 I cannot find the option.
Hey Khalm,
Try numpad , (or is it .)
(View Selected)
This is something I also was looking for.
I can’t be the only one addicted to the CKey, can I? Can’t find the answer anywhere online. It’s like nobody ever asked it before, which is hard to imagine considering just how much I am hitting the C-key while modeling and rigging.
Just added this back in svn as QKEY. All other combinations of CKEY were taken already, and Q was the only key not taken for direct usage yet that was on the LHS of the keyboard.
On mine it’s ctrl + numpad (period)
Really aggravating… I don’t know how to change it back.
Try the DEL/dot key on the number pad it’s next to the 0/zero key
Just have something selected vert, object, ect… the camera will rotate around it
don’t know if that’s what you wanted but it sounds like it.

You have to turn that on in preferences I think. I tried that first because the old C key was gone. When you zoom in too close to something the camera movement slows down a bit, but I guess that’s unavoidable, perhaps even benificial.
Oh well. Maybe they should have that option on by default.
where are the panels for mirror and transp like we had in 2.49 ?
i can see one toggle field for mirror and transp but no the panels?
Thanks
i had this same problem, it was remapped for circle select. what is center view to cursor now? Q doesnt work.
Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. A good work around anyways.
I keep trying to get into 2.5 but everything takes longer to do it seems. Maybe I am just too used to the old UI
After about an hour trying almost every key combonation I discovered it is.
Ctrl+.
(Control and the full stop on the numpad)
finally! CTRL+. does what C used to do. how annoying, another thing to get used to in 2.5…
There is not Numpad . on notebook and I can’t find Numpad . to center view to cursor (2.5) after I press Fn+F11, can you ? How do you center view to cursor with notepad ? I add a shortcut for center view but it is deleted when I close Blender even if I save the file or I save user settings.
