I have a couple of features I use when modelling and editing that I can’t seem to find in any of the 2.5 releases (currently the 2.53 beta)
Firstly the beauty tool: this was on the buttons dialogue on blender 2.49, but i can’t find it anywhere (probably just being stupid)
Also, in 2.49, if you pressed B twice in edit mode, a select tool came up that was a bit like a paintbrush or something. I don’t know what it’s called but does it exist in 2.5 and if so how can you use it?

Brush-select is now C key.
Do you mean “beauty fill”? Shift Alt-F I think in 2.5.

No, it’s not beauty fill; when you subdivide, it only makes a cut along the longest edge (or shortest if you click the ‘short’ button next to it in 2.49)
