Blender 2.8 Motor rigid body constraint problem

I try to make a cooling fan spin with a motor rigid body constraint but in 2.8 it just doesn’t work. None of the tutorials on the internet help, presuming i could find them, because are none!
I’m so annoyed. and i would like some help…

Could you elaborate how exactly the mechanical setup looks like? What are the objects to constrain? Which is the one the other(s) should follow? In which way exactly? Ideal would be a blend file with the setup.

Well, it’s a small fan. It has a case and a propeller, or how it is called. I want the propeller to spin with rigid body phisycs. Here is the blender file:Morisca.blend (930.6 KB)
I want it to spin like a normal thing of it’s kind would do. If you would be so kind to point me at least to a tutorial of how to do that? Because in future i will make car and i need wheels spinning also, and some controls.

I am using empties for rigid body constraints.

So I add one empty for bearing (radial connection between objects) and second empty as a motor. Motor constraint rotates in X axis, so empty must be positioned in correct way.Morisca II.blend (1.0 MB)

Apparently @Stvor has already given you good advice. I don’t know of any tutorials without searching myself, but basically that is the trick, you need 3 objects, 2 to tie together with the constraint, and an empty to enable the constraint on. Quite counterintuitive, I know.

Hi,.
I modified your file with fan.
No need 3 objects. Need a Generic constraint and a Motor

Thank you for all the answers, had no time to get back hier, was busy with college (not sure if that’s how it’s called). I will try to master these things better. Thank you again for support and dedication. Further advice is welcome!
