Blender 2.82(a) is pretty solid, I must say,
2.81 I skipped completely, because of the slow undo system.

What brings Blender 2.83 to the table:

  1. Adaptive Sampling

  2. Optix Denoiser:
    To use this feature you need a NVIDIA RTX GPU and
    at least driver 441.87 (Windows) or 440.59 (Linux)
    (hope this will come for gtx graphics cards too)

  3. Freestyle: option to render freestyle to a separate pass

There is a lot around the corner in Blender 2.83a/2.90

  • VR is coming into Blender

  • New Volume Mesh Objects

  • Everything nodes is coming, but Sorcar and Animation Nodes are already there

  • SDF Functions maybe
