I have been using the Carvature wood material nodes in 3.6 with great success but in 4.0.2 something interesting happens. The textures preview correctly in Material Preview but not in Rendered view. I tracked the issue down (or so I think) to the Voronoi Texture. Check the difference in these screenshots. The only difference is the Viewport Shading.
I don’t have the same set-up as you ( and you didn’t include all off you Node Tree) but with something simular I don’t get the same results as you…render View and Render are exactly the same…Nothing adjusted but matching the HDRI with Blender Internal HDRI…
Thanks @ RSEhlers, I probably can’t share the whole setup since it’s a paid-for setup. When I try your node configuration it works fine (exactly as yours).
What I noticed is that when in Rendered View but switching to EEVEE the results are correct. So something to do with Cycles?
I used cycles with 128 samples…could you share just that mesh that was in your first post?
Oh, I used a Nurbs Surface Sphere to make my blob, was yours a mesh object sphere?
I think I managed to fix it. Regarding the screenshot below, the Vector Transform node was transforming from Object to Object i.e. not doing anything to the vector. When I changed the transformation from Object to World, it worked in Cycles (and in EEVEE).
Curiously,
- Object to Object did seem to transform Object to World in EVEE.
- Object to Object did seem to transform Object to World in Cycles in Blender 3.6.
It was a tapered cylinder but check my other reply. Thanks!
