Blender 4.0 Statistics are all messed up

I started having an issue after upgrading to Blender 4.0. The statistics are majorly out of whack sometimes. It is not consistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. In searching for this, I did find a reference to it happening in blender 3.5 and the suggestion was to turn off GPU subdivision. That did not work for me. I use the statistics a lot so having accurate info is important. Any suggestions as to what could be the issue?

Here is an example of a simple scene I made. It is just a restroom showing a vanity. But it claims over 1 billion verts. And triangles and Edges are beyond my counting ability.
