Blender 4.2 cannot install addons anymore

Hi,

  • there is no more “install plugin” button

  • I tried creating a repository pointing to a folder full of addons, they don’t show up

  • I tried creating a local folder repository, the repository does not point to the dir I selected, if I go to advanced and try to reselect the proper directory, blender crashes

  • I found I had to create the local repo, quit blender, as I launch blender, my local repo is there

but none of the plugin I have in that directory are showing up

please help me out, this is quiet frustrating to say the least

thanks

It’s at the top right besides repositories. Click the arrow

then what is the point of these repositories bs ?

then I try to select a dir for the addon itself, again, blender crashes

I find it hard to believe this is an LTS version, geee

Well they changed addons and themes to extensions… so this changes some things… and it’s in the first (or second; depends how you count) sentence of :

Dive in.

New EEVEE, better Cycles, online extensions, faster everything.

You can also simply drag the addon’s zip folder onto the blender workspace (without using preferences), you will get a dialog to confirm installing the addon.
