Blender 4.3.2 sculpt brushes asset browser issue

Hi everyone, during last sales I got some sculpting brushes asset packs from Blendermarket and immediately noticed that the moment I “install” more than one asset pack (they all have 600+ brushes each) through the File Paths menu in Blender Preferences, things start to get weird.
So far I encountered these issues, not necessarily all at once:

  • Blender crashes upon entering Sculpt Mode when more than one asset pack is installed
  • Essentials sculpting brushes disappeared from the asset browser but one of the other asset packs seem to work
  • Essentials are back to be visible in the browser without the other packs, but I still see the menu tabs of the deleted asset packs
  • All asset packs appear but when clicking on any brush a report: error window pops up saying No asset found at path “C:.…” (including the essentials within Blender)

I know 4.3 introduced a new ui for sculpting brushes but so far It seems a bit bugged.
I tried to google the issue and found similar problems on Blender Stack Exchange where it seems the browser is not really empty, it just takes really long to load everything.
I was wondering if this is something that’s being worked on for the upcoming 4.4 release or not because it would be really a pity not being able to get access to all the assets available because of this problem. If anybody encountered the same issue and found a real fix please let me know. Thanks for reading through this and have a good Sunday everyone.

Contact the appropriate Addon seller. Or try using blender 4.2.
blender 4.2 and blender 4.3 are different.
It is not shared.

The addons are labeled 4.3 compatible. I did contact the seller and I’ve been told there is a known bug from Blender side about 1000+ sculpt brushes, yet he’ll look into it.
The fact that the issue happened with assets pack from different sellers makes me thing it might be a Blender issue.
However, after doing some tests and adding one pack at a time, also by creating a new file and restarting Blender everytime after each “installation” I might have managed to make all the three packs I had and also essentials seem to work without problems. Still I think there might be need of optimization about this from Blender side.

I think it may be a problem that the conditions for creating a path must be met.

Creating and storing one new brush creates one basic path.
Put a brush there and test it.

There may be bugs because it’s a new feature.
If you think it’s a bug and it can be reproduced, please submit a bug report :slightly_smiling_face:
