Hi
i am new to the forum and have recently downloaded Blender on to my Macbook.
I am having problems with some of the shortcut keys listed in some online tutorials.
I know the shortcuts are different to wondows PS’s, but does anyone have a compleat list of Mac shortcuts?
i want to start learning!!
Thanks
They are the same. Ctrl on windows still is ctrl on Mac, not Apple or Command. Same with alt and shift, and the letters. If you need a numpad and you don’t have one, look in the info header and enable ‘Emulate Numpad’.
i think thats the problem i had, i follwed a tutorial, it said press a number key and nothing happened.
so by enabling the number keypad do i then use the normal number buttons running along the top of the keyboard?
If you had a previous generation macbook pro (macbook too, maybe?), then you could have turned on numlock, but thats really more trouble than its worth.
Another way would be to use the Fn-key in comination with the “numpad” (j-k-l-etcetera)
That way, you will still have the normal numeric keys to enter values.
Quite honestly since getting my new MacBook I’ve given up on running Blender, because between that and the redraw bugs it’s currently not really usable. I’m waiting for 2.50 with interest.
After four years of using a mac, you should expect to know it quite well. But that’s something, that I didn’t know (only knew about Fn and the F keys). Sweet!
If ur talking about F12 problems, on Mac F12 means “Dashboard” and it’ll pop right up. What u need to do is click “render”, “render current frame”, and if ur rendering a anim there’s three ways:
ANIM button in render panel
Ctrl-f12, (Ctrl makes sure that dashboard doesent come up)
I use a macbook, and have invested $10 for a usb numpad, have disabled the mac F buttons in the dashboard prefs and keyboard prefs, and have command mapped as control. If you have an old keyboard use it, as well as a 3 button mouse.
MacBook is pretty nice for many things… but the lack of graphic card makes me dubious… As with MacMini, i woudn’t dare using it for 3D.
But i yet wish you penty of good creativity!
