Blender and unreal?

Hello

what is the fastest and easiest way to open an entire scene created in blender 2.8 in unreal? to illuminate with the unreal Gi real time?

thanks

theres a small range of compatibility between unreal and blender i believe. ive heard of new export formats being worked on, but i dont really know much about them.

Even visual studio can read fbx, that’s what I’d go for. You can export the entire scene that way too.

do you have tutorial?
or link for me to inform myself about what you mentioned?

File->Export->FBX – it’s that simple. If you need a manual on the Unreal side, https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Engine/Content/FBX/FullScene/index.html

I suggest datasmith addon, it’s promising. Check this post:

does this scheme fully load the scene: objects in their positions, materials and textures applied to objects, lights and cameras?

Transforms yes, materials, textures and lights only kind of. If you want a 1 to 1 conversion you’ll have to try one of the addons. Datasmith seems to work okay, but frankly I’ve never used it.

Datasmith for: blender for unreal already works?
what is the most current version?

Datasmith is integrated in Unreal Engine by default in the new versions. I tested couple of weeks ago and it works. Datasmith is the “least click possible solution” when I compare with other formats, you just export/import and textures, hierarchies, lights are working out of the box (There are some limitations though. Rigs and animations were not working when I tested. So keep checking his github and discord for updates).

Recent versions of UE4 have a glTF importer. I haven’t tried it, but I saw notes about fixes to the animations on glTF imports. Worth a shot to enable the glTF importer and see how that works for you.
